After a very long time, got a great company and planned for a short ride to Ethipothala waterfalls near Nagarjuna Sagar on 6th of July 2019. We started at 9 am from my home and stopped for breakfast near Ibrahimpatnam. We actually started our journey at 11:30 AM from there. It was very windy and our bikes were losing the balance sometimes. Especially when any truck approaching from the opposite side. We were maintaining 80-100 Kmph. We were on two bikes. One was Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the other one was Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350. After covering 120 km, the road was under construction and our speed reduced to 50kmph. Before 30kms from Nagarjuna Sagar, we took a short break at Masqati outlet for 30 mins and then continued towards the Dam. it took around 45 mins from there to reach the Dam and had a first glimpse of the Dam and got really upset :(. Because the water in the Dam was not as expected. But still, the view was great and took a lot of pictures and enjoyed the view of the Dam and its green fields surrounding the ghats. We reached the Dam at 1:45 PM. After spending 30 mins there at the Dam, we move towards Ethipothala Waterfalls. It was around 12kms from the Dam. As soon as we took the left towards Ethipothala before 3 km, we have to pay Rs10. Not sure what is that for, we assumed it was for the clean road. The greenery on the remote road was great. After 10 mins of drive, we finally reached Ethipothala at 3:00 PM. There again we have to take Rs20 per head for the entry. After entering the gate, there is a small park with benches and well maintained. We were very excited to see the falls but unfortunately, the falls were flowing very slightly due to no water in the streams. One more shock. Everyone’s mood was spoiled and also the temperature was horribly humid. So, we hardly spent 30 mins there and started back at 3:30 PM.
While coming back, we stopped on the ghat and took a cool breeze and took some pictures near the mountains. Now we were very hungry and it was 4 pm already. So we rushed to one of the Telangana Tourism based restaurant. Ordered simple food items like pulka, dal fry, chicken curry, zeera rice, and curd rice. Had a nice tea. The food was great in taste. There was the only one thing which was irritating at the restaurant was the smallest flies. We took some rest there and started back to Hyderabad at 5:30 PM.
After continuing around 60kms we faced a police check. The cops were very friendly and supportive though we were already carrying all the documents. Took 15mins hardly and we continued. We reached back to Ibrahimpatnam at 7:30 PM. Took a break for soft drinks and moved towards the city. We dropped one of our friends at Champapet at 8:30 PM and ended our journey from there and went to our homes.
Summary:
The trip was great, but riding bikes with huge winds were very hectic and risky especially when any heavy vehicle was approaching from the opposite side. We experienced this while going and also while coming back. It was hard to maintain good speeds due to the wind. Our breakfast was horrible in taste but our lunch was very tasty with a small irritation. But was a good taste experience. Weather was good for 120km but as we were climbing the ghats it was turning humid due to the water body nearby and mountains. Though there was no heavy rain on the journey. It was showering in some places only. Overall it was a good experience. It could be better if there will be better water flow at Ethipothala waterfalls.
Hope you would like my blog and my experience could help you whenever you plan for this trip.
I will be back with another trip experience soon. Till then, see you and have a great time.
